Some of his friends are Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor and Tea Gardner (his best friend and love interest) who all entered the championship to duel other powerful duelists. Like everyone else in the show, he is a duelist who relies on special cards that allow him to beat opponents. He is also a major character in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX.
